BRIMR Rankings of NIH Funding in 2021
as compiled by Robert Roskoski Jr. and Tristram G. Parslow
All data are derived from NIH year-end composite data for the federal fiscal year ending 30 September 2021, as released on the NIH Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tool (RePORT). For additional information please see, a brief overview of BRIMR and its rankings, and a detailed methodology and changes affecting this year’s rankings.
The NIH allocated hundreds of awards in 2021 to combat the COVID pandemic, some of which exceeded $100 million this year. As a result, rankings of many Institutions, Departments, and Principal Investigators (PIs) differ markedly in comparison to 2020. For more information see an overview of COVID-related NIH awards.

One works alone at the lab bench without haste and without rest. Time has no meaning; every day, something will be done, something will be found out. It is total commitment to the task at hand. It requires Spartan self-discipline. These are happy days; one follows another, hopefully without end, so great is the delight of discovery.
