In light of nationwide attention to NIH indirect-cost (IDC) payments, BRIMR’s 2024 ranking table for Schools of Medicine was expanded to show the ratios of IDC payments to total costs or direct costs, respectively, for each listed school. Neither of the latter ratios corresponds to the school’s individually negotiated IDC-cost rate, which is applied to only certain categories of expenses or award types.

Originally released on 21 February 2025, selected tables were revised on 4 March 2025 to correct the departmental assignment of one grant, or on 19 March 2025 to remove three R&D contracts that had erroneously been included in tallies for four Schools of Medicine. BRIMR regrets the errors.
